Kyanite grows in gorgeous, lustrous fans that form in pegmatites at extremely high pressure, most often in Brazil.

Famous for its variable hardness, the long crystals can vary from 4.75 to 6.75 depending on length or width – kyanite gets its name from “disthene” meaning, “two strengths”. Because of this, it is incredible to ever have anything kyanite in polished form since it can break easily. Extreme care has to be taken for each individual piece.

Metaphysically it is a protective, grounding stone, helpful for connecting to our primitive nature and connecting to our allies in the natural world.
