Chiastolite is a variety of andalusite and is common in some metamorphic rocks. It was first described in 1754 which predates the description of its parent species andalusite.

These crystals feature cross shaped inclusions of carbon and these particular beauties are actually translucent.

Metaphysically, chiastolite bestows strength, power, and perseverence. It is supposed to be an extremely calming stone and is used as protection against negative energy as it deflects rather than absorbs. Traditionally, it is used to ward off curses.
