This is a classic hematite after magnetite psuedomorph from the Payun Volcano in Altiplano de Payun Matru, Mendoza, Argentina.
Held back by the mine owner since what we estimate to be 2007 – these finds originally came out in the late 1990s – making a big splash at the St. Marie show in the early 2000s.
*
There has been quite the variety in quality of this particular find – with the best crystals featuring large hoppered crystals, razor sharp terminations, and dazzling sparkle – some with minor iridescence.
*
Metaphysically, hematite is a balancing and centering energy. Many use it for stress reduction and absorbing negative energies of the world around them.
