These amethyst from Madagascar are typically rich in color, displaying deep purples with occasional flashes of red or blue, depending on the light. These vibrant shades are a result of the specific trace elements and the precise conditions under which the crystals formed. Even more rare is that these specimens formed as Japan Law Twins where growth-type contact twins that share a common basal point and are symmetrically inclined to each other at a precise angle of 84 degrees and 33 minutes (slightly more acute than a right angle).

What makes Kazakhstan’s amethyst particularly interesting is its association with ancient geological formations. The deposits are often located in regions with a long history of volcanic activity, resulting in the creation of amethyst with unique inclusions and growth patterns. The relatively remote and pristine environment of these deposits also means that many of the crystals are found in their natural, unaltered state, often with exceptional clarity and minimal human interference.
