Tektites form all over the world, and there is a huge variety of them! You’ve probably heard of moldavite, but there are *hundreds* of varieties. Tektites form when an meteor hits the earth at extremely high speeds and temperatures, liquifying the surface, and shooting it up into the air. As the meteor/earth solution cools, it solidifies and becomes a tektite. Often tektites still have small pieces of the original meteor inside.

Moldavite are fused silica with varying deposits of aluminum or potassium, small deposits of iron, and very little water. Moldavites tend to be on the more transparent side and tend to more green in color, but can also be more black or brown and even clear.

Metaphysically, tektites are used to gain higher perspectives outside of the realms of socially constructed “reality”. They encourage their users to transform in radical ways, to reject conventions that no longer serve them and to embrace the finite nature of consciousness. By becoming aware of our limitations we can expand our worldview past them, making this a fabulous familiar to embolden starseeds, neurodivergent people and those who experience synesthesia. It is also believed that moldavite can help bring harmony in martial relationships. It was historically a common betrothal gift.
