Tektites form all over the world, and there is a huge variety of them! You’ve probably heard of moldavite, but there are *hundreds* of varieties. Tektites form when an meteor hits the earth at extremely high speeds and temperatures, liquifying the surface, and shooting it up into the air. As the meteor/earth solution cools, it solidifies and becomes a tektite. Often tektites still have small pieces of the original meteor inside.
